Sabine's Gull, Alger Co., 9/12/07

I encountered a juvenile Sabine's Gull this morning off of Sand Point in 
Munising.  The bird was standing on a sand bar between the point and Grand 
Island.  It was visible for several minutes before disappearing while I 
retreated to my car due to heavy rain.  To reach this location, drive 
northeast out of town on H58 for about a mile.  Then turn left at the bottom 
of the hill at the sign for Munising Falls.  Follow this road until it dead 
ends at a turn-around.  The sand bar will be to your left between the 
turn-around and Grand Island.  Scott Hickman
