Smith's Longspur at Point Iroquois, Chippewa County, Sep 4

I observed a Smith's Longspur this afternoon, Sep 4, at Point Iroquois in Chippewa County. I saw the bird several times on the ground and in flight between 2:30 and 3:00 p.m. The bird was mostly within the perimeter of the wooden boardwalk to the east of the lighthouse, but disappeared down the beach farther to the east. A contingent of searchers from WPBO were unsuccessful in re-finding the bird later in the afternoon.
