On this beautiful fall day (Oct 17th), Robert Epstein, Sue Wright and
I birded the Lake Huron shoreline of the Thumb of Michigan from Port
Huron to Grindstone City at the tip of the Thumb. At the White Rock
Roadside Rest Area, Sue pointed out to Robert and I a White-fronted
Goose actively feeding in the shallows of Lake Huron in a flock of
Canada Geese.

This rest area is on M-25 just south of Atwater Road, approximately
two miles north of the Sanilac County line. There is a nice stairway
with several landings going down the steep enbankment above Lake
Huron. Look from the uppermost landing.

Earlier at Lighthouse Park in Port Huron we had 4 Surf Scoters, 2
White-winged Scoters and a Long-tailed Duck on Lake Huron.

Cheers,
