A bird I've concluded to be a molting juvenile Red Phalarope was still present in Munising Bay as of 4:30 p.m. this afternoon. This bird was about 60 yards east of the fisherman's pier that is next to the paper mill when I first encountered it, feeding about 5 - 10 feet from shore. When last seen, it was moving along the shore to the north and east with a group of birders in pursuit.
This location can be accessed by driving northeast out of Munising on H58 for a short distance to the paper mill. Continue on H58 just past the paper mill and make a left onto a gravel drive that leads to a small, wooden fishing pier. Scott
