This morning, around 10:30, a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE and seven PINE
GROSBEAKS were present along Loosemore Rd., east of the entrance to the
Wilderness Arboretum in northern Huron Co. The birds were in a
low-lying, relatively open area with lots of Michigan Holly, dogwoods
and other shrubby vegetation. The area is described on pg. 186 of
Chartier and Ziarno's A Birder's Guide to Michigan. None of the birds
were seen again on a quick drive through the area an hour later, but
they are presumably still in the area taking advantage of the abundant
holly berries.
