Folks -

I had to bird or go nuts today, so I followed up on Joe Soehnel's Jaeger Fest
at Finn Road post and Sr. Overman's Red-throated Loon report at Holloway Dam
in Lapeer County.

Pleasant morning at the north end of Finn Road in Bay County. Calm with
excellent late fall colors. Had a young-of-year Northern Goshawk on the way out
to tip o' spit and a
y-o-y Northern Shrike on the way back. Gorgeous flock of about 250-300 Snow
Buntings bouncing around the shore - at least two longspurs mixed in. Four
species of common gulls present, but only formed active "feeding" flocks 3 times
in the time I was there. One was in progress on my way out and I saw a young
jaeger buzz the group and move quickly away. No other jaegers seen. At least
I now have that sister-kissing jaeger sp. for the county.

Winter Wren in the campground area of Bay City SRA.

The Red-throated Loon was present, only a bit further west and more in the
middle of the resevoir than reported earlier. A small flock of Bonaparte's was
seen along with a Common Loon and a smattering of ducks.

Two Cackling Goose mixed in with a flock of Canadian Geese, eh, near the
Durand exit off I-69 in Shiawassee County.
