Listers-
A female Evening Grosbeak visited my feeders north of Williamston, first seen at 11:45 this morning. At noon, I stepped out of the house to hear, then see, two individuals high in a tree top before they flew off. I've been gone most of the day, but have not seen any since the noon sighting. It is my first Ingham Co sighting for this bird, as I assume it would be for many other listers. Could this be the start of a major winter irruption for this species?
Birders are welcome to come and investigate. The address is 5900 N. Williamston Road, Williamston. The feeders are visible from the road on the south side of the house. Please don't park on the driveway. There is ample room on the shoulder next to the road in front of the feeders. Feel free to walk to the side of the house for a better view without disturbing the feeder action.
I've taken photos of the female at the feeder and would be happy send one to any inquirers on request.
I will be sure to make additional posts if any more show up tomorrow or beyond.
