Rufous Hummingbird in Kalamazoo

There is a Rufous Hummingbird occasionally coming to a feeder and
flowers at 3516 Old Colony Rd. on the south side of Kalamazoo. It is at
Melanie Perry's (ASK Secretary) house. The feeder is hanging from the
corner of the back porch. Be sure to park on the street, then walk up
the drive to the garage. From that point you can see the feeder on the
corner of the porch and the honeysuckle bush that it may come to. So as
not to disturb the bird please do not wait closer to the feeder. Also,
please no photography except from the driveway. The bird has not been a
frequent visitor and the more disturbance means that fewer people will
have a chance of seeing it.
To get to the house from I-94 take Westnedge Ave. northbound to Kilgore
Rd. about .6 of a mile. Turn west or left, go .5 mi. to Old Colony and
turn North or right. Go about .75 of a mi. to the house. The house is a
two story and the drive is on the right side of the house. If you are
coming from north of Kalamazoo it is easiest to follow the directions
from I-94. If you are coming from, in town, get on Oakland Dr. and go
to White's Road and turn left or east. About one mile down turn right
onto Bronson Blvd. Then take the second left (Par-4 Dr.) one block to
Old Colony and turn right or south. I think the house is the second one
south of Par-4 Dr. and is on the right.
Probably and I men probably, the best opportunities would be shortly
after sunrise (8:30 AM EST) and shortly before sunset (about 5:30 PM
EST) would give you the most likely chance to see it. This is a first
county record for Kalamazoo.

Good luck,
