Dear birders,
A pair of HOODED WARBLERS was found this morning (May 29) on private property approx. 5 miles NW of Harbor Springs in Emmet County. Eleven people on a Petoskey Regional Audubon Society bird walk observed the female in the scrubby understory of a cut-over beech/sugar maple forest. I first heard the "chink" call from the female, and we watched her for 15 minutes or so before finally locating a male much higher in a sugar maple tree nearby. During the 20 minutes we watched the birds, no singing was heard from the male.
