Greetings,

I made a run to look for Dickcissel last night after reading Ken Middleton's post about the two at Allegan State Game Area. Altogether 8 singing males were found and there are likely more as there is more potential habitat to look at. Besides the bird Ken had in the "Bobolink Field" at the southeast corner of 59th St. & 118th Ave. the others were:

- one in the field on the north side of 118th Ave. 1/10 mile west of 59th St.

- two in the field on the north side of 117th Ave. 1/10 mile east of 58th St.

- one in the field on the south side of 117th Ave. 1/4 mile east of 58th St.

- three in the field/on utility wires on the east side of 58th 1/10 mile north of 116th Ave.

An adult male Orchard Oriole was also in the junipers along the roadside at the last location. Other usual suspects for this area were 2 Upland Sandpiper, 21 Grasshopper Sparrow, 26 Savannah Sparrow and 6 Vesper Sparrow.

Thanks for the heads-up Ken!

Good birding,

Rick Brigham

Douglas
