An adult Laughing Gull in breeding plumage was tucked in among the Herring
and Ring-billed Gulls in Munising Bay at about 11:30 today. The bird was
standing on the sand bar near the fisherman's pier next to the paper mill in
Munising. The gull eventually flew off to the south after which I was
unable to relocate it.

To reach this site, drive east into Munising on M28. After stopping at the
blinking light in the middle of town, drive straight onto H58. You will
quickly come to a large paper mill on the north side of the road.
Immediately east of the paper mill you will note a gravel road leading to a
small fishing pier. Turn left onto this gravel road, park by the pier, and
the sand bar will be clearly visible a short distance off shore to the
northeast. Scott Hickman
