All-
Yesterday (4 Jul 2007) during the late afternoon and early evening, from
about 5PM-8PM, I scoured the Grand Marais breakwall and harbor in Alger
County but was unable to locate the Common Eider. It could conceivably have
been on the backside of the middle breakwall during my visit (inaccessible
except by boat- had I brought my kayak I could have easily gone out there!),
but I felt I was there long enough that I should have seen it swim or fly,
eventually, were it there.
Please continue to update the list with any further checks on this bird, yea
or nea.
Thanks,
Caleb Putnam

I would be interested if anyone has seen or not seen the eider at Grand
Marais since the initial reports. Have seen no further info, but some of
you may
have access to other sites besides the ones I monitor.
Wasn't sure if posting RFIs to mich-listers is okay. Thankee kindly.
