Skye Haas, Joe Kaplan and I ventured out to the Black Billed Magpie. It
showed up after only about 10 minutes, flew through twice, looking at
the suet that we left. Then it landed in a snag and flew off. We waited
around for about a half hour with no more sightings.

Copper Harbor produced 2 Townsend's Solitares, both heard calling near
the fire station, 2 Black-backed Woodpeckers, including one in town near
Westcott's fields and 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker. Eagle Harbor produced a
lone Song Sparrow, probably the only January record in the Keweenaw.

"Both the grand and the intimate aspects of nature can be
revealed in the expressive photograph. Both can stir
enduring affirmations and discoveries, and can surely help
the spectator in his search for identification with the vast
world of natural beauty and the wonder surrounding him." - Ansel Adams
