The Western Tanager Dave Kronk discovered feeding in his front yard in
Munising yesterday was still present into the early afternoon today. It
started feeding in the same mountain ash it was visiting yesterday at about
9 a.m. this morning. It would feed for 5 or more minutes, fly across the
street or into an adjacent cedar, and then repeat this process 1/2 hour to
40 minutes later.
Dave is birder-friendly, and so is the tanager. Dave's house can be reached
by driving west out of Munising on M28. Shore Drive will spur off toward
the lake as you drive up the hill. Go about 200 yards or so to the house on
the right (lake side, #E-9096) with a white picnic table leaning against a
mountain ash in the front yard. This is the tree the bird visits. Scott
