This is a posting of the Eurasian Tree Sparrow, that has been seen for the last couple of weeks, near the small town of Topaz in the western U.P. First, the owners have asked for people to call first, at 906-575-3367. As stated by Kitt and Bob, they have said: Just be sure to emphasize to people that they must call first to make sure we can accomodate visitors on the date they want to come, due to our respective health problems. The only good way to see the ETS during the winter months is from inside our dining room window.
The direction are: Take M-28 west from Bruce Crossing and past Ewen, then about five miles west of Ewen look for signs for Matchwood, and Norwich Road. Continue on another 1/2 mile or so and ther you will see a billboard sign for Antonio's Restaurant. From that sign, just about 3 miles, you will see a sign for Topaz, and there are two roads going north and south. The road on the south is Big Bear Road (don't take the north road; Applekamp). They are in the first farm home heading south on the left side of the road (or east side). You'll see an old, large red barn on your left as you are driving west on M-28. The address is 16408. The home is a ranch style house, with the garage on the left (and is facing left).
Thank you & Keep on birding,
Mark & Joanie Hubinger
