Birders,

This morning Andreas Kanon and I went up to Port Huron to try and relocate
the previously reported Harlequin Ducks. Almost immediately upon arrival
(8:15 a.m.) the birds were found near the rocks just north of Edison Park
along the St. Clair River. As I'd experienced last week, the three birds (1
adult male, 1 immature male, and 1 female) gradually floated downriver just
offshore nearly to the Bluewater Bridge over a period of about 20 minutes.
Then, they all took off and landed about 100 yards south of the bridge, and
farther offshore. We drove down to try and relocate them, but were
unsuccessful. I'd heard a report (Vince?) that four were seen on Saturday,
from behind the YMCA about a mile south of the bridge. We went down there
and found a single female Harlequin Duck, which we felt was not one of the
three, but never relocated them, not even by scoping the Canadian side.
Where do they go? A few (15-20) Long-tailed Ducks are still at the mouth of
the river as well.

===============================================
Every day, the hummingbird eats its own weight in food.
You may wonder how it weighs the food. It doesn't.
It just eats another hummingbird.
