Howdy Folks,

Ryne Rutherford found a male AMERICAN THREE-TOED WOODPECKER on the Harlow Lake Pathway this afternoon/evening (2/20). This is about 4-5 miles north of the City of Marquette on the left-hand side (west) of County Road 550. This is across the road from Wetmore's Landing. The bird was feeding about 300+ yards down the pathway up on a small ridge to the right. Birders want to take the left path, and not the right over the yellow gate. Ryne originally had it right on the path about another 150 yards down. There are a few obviously scaled spruce trees that the bird is feeding on.
He found the bird around 5 PM. David Pavlik, Steve Connelly, James Skelton & I, were all able to get up there in time to observed the woodpecker. It was incredibly tame and allowed for both great looks and Ryne shot some great video of the bird. I will have some pictures up in the 2007 photo gallery of www.UPBirders.org later tonight.

We will be out in the morning to see if the bird is still around,

Good Birding!

~Skye Haas
