Mich-listers:

This morning some Muskegon County Nature Club members confirmed for the
owners of a home west of Montague that a bird which has been visiting
their feeders the last few weeks is indeed a VARIED THRUSH (male).

The address of the home is 6834 W. Old Channel Trail Road but be aware
that numbers in Montague do not match numbers elewhere, so mapping
software will not pinpoint this location. Instead either give your
mapping software this "fake address": 6200 Lamos, Montague, MI or follow
these directions:

Entering downtown Montague from the south on Whitehall Road, take the
left fork (up Dowling Street, not right on Ferry) about 500 feet and
turn left onto Old Channel Trail (clearly marked as part of Michigan's
Shoreline Trail). Follow Old Channel Trail approximately 2.5 miles west
to the 4-way stop at Lamos Road. Turn left (south). This stretch of
road has both names: Lamos and Old Channel Trail. Drive approximately
3/4 mi. south almost to the right-bend in the road. Just before the
bend, turn left into the driveway. The house and its unattached garage
are green.

The homeowners ask that you please park by the garage door, walk east
along the north wall of the garage and a little beyond until you have a
clear view to your right (south) of the small plum tree directly behind
their house among various feeders.

This morning the bird did not appear from 8:10-8:45, but thereafter for
the next 25 minutes it was often in the plum tree or foraging on the
ground beneath the tree. The homeowners say the bird usually comes to
the plum tree from the woods east of their property and has been a
regular visitor at all hours of the day, but more frequently early in
the morning and late in the evening.
