Pacific Loon - Washtenaw County - Wed., Dec. 26

Birders,
Sean Bachman called at 9:30 this morning to say that he, Lyle Hamilton, Bruce Bowman, and others had relocated Maggie Jewett's first Washtenaw County record Pacific Loon at Portage Lake in extreme north-central Washtenaw County. The bird was viewed from the Portage Lake Yacht Club on Dexter-Pinckney Rd., and was at a hefty distance. There was also a White-winged Scoter.
If accepted by the MBRC, this will be about the 27th Michigan record for this bird, and one of only a few from the Lower Peninsula.
    A mighty fine Christmas present.

I believe I saw a pacific loon this afternoon at the Portage Yacht
Club. Should be there tomorrow for someone else to check out.
Thought it might be rude to call anyone on Christmas day...
