Birders,

This owl has been present on Belle Isle since at least December 9.
Hopefully, birders and photographers will remember that this owl "works the
night shift" and won't do anything to disturb it at this day roost. Given
that up to 3 saw-whet owls I(that we know of) have over-wintered on Belle
Isle in recent years, I'd be very surpised if this was the same bird as last
year. The roost site is well suited to any migrating saw-whet owl that
happened upon it.

Every day, the hummingbird eats its own weight in food.
You may wonder how it weighs the food. It doesn't.
It just eats another hummingbird.
