Mich-listers:
The well-known NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL has returned to Belle
Isle and is roosting only 10 feet away from where it was
observed last December. It is (exceptionally) easy to
observe from the Nashua Creek trail. There should be no need
to approach it. It is at approximately eye-level underneath
a tangle of vines being supported by a small tree.
A Great Black-backed Gull was observed at Lake Erie
Metropark off Cove Point Picnic area. Additionally, at least
17 species of waterfowl were present in this general area.
As well, a Marsh Wren was found east of the Sulfur Pond
unit at Lake Erie Marsh Reserve (Monroe County).
Good birding,

Commerce Twp.
