Detroit Audubon had a field trip to Pointe Mouillee on August 25th.
Jim Fowler lead the trip and had arranged with DNR to allow us again
to drive around Pointe Mouillee. With all the rain of the last
couple of days, expectations were low. We all parked at the Sigler
Road entrance and then transfered into the 4 vehicles we were allowed
to take in.

Actually it was a not a bad day. Shorebird numbers were low but
diversity was pretty good. Here are the highlights:

Snowy Egret: 3 in Vermet Unit
Avocet: The long staying bird in cell 3 was still there.
Ruddy Turnstone: One on east side of Vermet Unit
Long-billed Dowitcher: At least one in flooded area in Bloody Run Unit
Short-billed Dowitcher: 8 in Bloody Run Unit; 2 on east side of
Vermet Unit
Wilson's Phalarope: One at north end of Vermet Unit
Yellow-headed Blackbird: At least one adult male and 2 females in
the Lead Unit across from cell 3
