Robert Epstein and I had a first year Snowy Egret on Lotus Road in
extreme southern Monroe County today. The small area of mudflats
there held 15 Least Sandpipers, 8 Semipalmated Sandpipers and a
couple Lesser Yellowlegs.

We had earlier biked around Pointe Mouillee. I checked cell 5.
Nothing. We saw the Avocet Jerry Jourdan reported earlier in cell 3.
The shorebird habitat there of 2 weeks ago is gone--bulldozed away.

Actually Mouillee was remarkably dull given what seemed like
considerable good habitat. We had one Dunlin in the Vermet Unit.
From the north end of the Long Pond unit I looked over distant
extensive flats at the mouth of the Huron River. I could see
Semipalmated Plover on one of the flats.

We checked the Waltz sod farm in southern Wayne County. Nothing but
Killdeers.

Cheers,
