Listers,

Robert Epstein and I found a juvenile Western Sandpiper at the sewage ponds
on Angola Rd in southern Branch County Sunday evening. It had rufous
scapulars and a long, tapered bill with a drooped tip. The bird was on the South side
of the Northwest pond. There are several ponds at this sprawling,
new-looking facility which is between Kinderhook Rd and Nye Rd on the West side of
Angola Rd. I had not been there before and am not sure of the rules for entry.
The gates were open and we didn't notice any signs until we were on the way out
(honest). There were dozens of shorebirds of several species present and
they were scattered amongst the multiple ponds.

Good Birding,

Scott Jennex
Ferndale
