Birders,

This afternoon (August 7) I stopped briefly at Metro Beach Metropark, Macomb
County, and found a small flock (5-7) of relatively tame Baird's Sandpipers
and a couple of Least Sandpipers in the pile of dirt and woodchips (and now
with puddles) at the start of the maintenance road going west from near the
golf course (just north of the Day Sail parking area). I noticed when I
entered the sighting in the book at the nature center that Frank Lautner had
2 Baird's on the beach on Saturday, so it seems they may be hanging around
in the general vicinity. The beach usually gets cleared of shorebirds early
this time of year, so they may move to this (smelly) dirt pile for the rest
of the day.

===============================================
Every day, the hummingbird eats its own weight in food.
You may wonder how it weighs the food. It doesn't.
It just eats another hummingbird.
