Listers,
Apologies for the late post from a long weekend birding the west side of the
Lower. I had a single EARED GREBE in northwestern Kent County on Saturday
afternoon at the Kent City Sewage Pond. From Peach Ridge (the main north/south
street in town) turn east on the first street north of the railroad tracks and
follow to the end.The entire lagoon is wisible from outside the fence here.
This location is a couple blocks south of M-46 and just to the east of M-37.
Stopped by the Howard Christensen Nature Center and had very little in terms
of migrants. Unaware of the Avocet I drove right through Muskegon Wastewater
on the way to look for passerines and migrant raptors at Muskegon State Park
- best bird there was probably an Orange Crowned Warbler. Best bird of the
day on Sunday was an adult Golden Eagle on the Osceola/Mecosta County line.
Good Birding,
Scott Jennex
Ferndale
