Hello Birders! The Red-throated Loon is still being seen at the Metro
Beach Metropark,
as of this morning, Monday, April 9th. It has now
moved down the creek
and is more easily seen in the park's North
Marina. One person stood on
a dock, with the bird asleep only 10 ft. away!
Bring your cameras!
For those of you not very familiar with Metro
Beach Metropark: Enter the
park, pass through the Toll Booth area, turn left
at the very first left.
The sign will say "Maintenance Yard" and "Boat
Launch". This is, also,
where you would park to walk to the North Marina.
The marina is only
about 100 yards from where you make that first
left turn. Good luck!
Leslie Sutton, Supervising Naturalist
P.S. As of today, April 9th.....This is the 18th
day the loon has
been seen in the park. Who would have
guessed it would
have stayed this long?!
