All,
Just got home from viewing an apparent MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD along with Glen
Belyea, Adam Byrne and Brad Murphy in the vicinity of the Cornerstone Church in
Clyde, just north and west of Port Huron. The bird was initially discovered
Saturday by Tom Dennis from Blue Water Audubon and posted on their listserv.
This is not an adult male! The "mountain bluebird blue" is clearly visible
in the wings, tail and rump. The breast is a buffy/earthy color that moves
into gray on the sides and back. Looks very different in assorted positions
relative to the light. There is no hint of the chestnut/orange of Eastern
Bluebird.
directions from Tom
"The Cornerstone Church property is at 4025 North Road, Clyde, MI 48049.
This is at the West end of Krafft Rd. which intersects M25 on the Northern
border of Port Huron. The bird has been in the North parking lot and across
the road to the East" We also had the bird in the marshy area directly in front
of the church building.
Hope you see it!
