Ancient Murrelet Update

I just wanted to give an update and outlook for the bird, as I'm sure there
are people interested in chasing. The bird dissapeared from sight around
4:30 PM tonight and was not seen after that. It had been steadily diving and
feeding in the river mouth previous to changing behaviors, when it stopped
feeding, started preening some and swam out to deeper waters. It is thought
that the heavy wind and waves of Whitefish Bay, which it's presumably
roosting in tonight, could push it beyond range of returning to the river
mouth tomorrow morning. However, anything can happen. Someone will be at the
location near dawn and as soon as any positive reports of the bird are
received, we'll make sure that word gets out.
