Hello all,
I'm rather new to the birdnet, but have certainly been enjoying all the
reports! I've never really known when a find is good enough to report, but
I'm fairly certain this one may interest some of you (I hope!).
I was looking for some of the longspurs here, and instead flushed up a
smallish bird.... It found a low perch and started...bouncing (ok, so it's
feet didn't leave the ground but you get the idea)! It wasn't like a
sandpiper bobbing -- it was a full-body down-up motion. Before I got my
binoc's locked on it, though, it flew down below a mini sand ledge and away,
and I lost it.
I finally moved on, and was elated to see it again, on the wood structures
by the Maritime house. That time I got some good looks! I ran home,
grabbed my camera and got several good ID pics (thank goodness it was still
there)! I'll send some to the website...or let me know if I should attach
them to another email.
Other notables here this morning -- 3 Bonaparte's gulls, 3-4 horned grebes,
7-8 red-necked grebes, 10+ buffleheads, and more ducks that I just couldn't
ID.
Happy birding!
Amanda Ingraham
