Mich-listers:
A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was present today at Bay City
SRA. The bird was with other gulls (Bonaparte's, Ring-billed,
Herring) resting on a sandbar in the bay about 1/4 mile south
from the swimming beach. THe bird had very typical adult,
winter plumage. The bird could be anywhere along the beach
because the water has receded exposing tremendous sandbars and
flats.
Additionally, Bay County yielded a total of 10 warbler species
including Nashville (2), Northern Parula (1), Chestnut-sided
(1), Magnolia (5), Black-throated Blue (2), Yellow-rumped,
Black-throated Green (1), Palm (3), Black-and-white (1) and
American Redstart (4). Also, many short-distance migrants
were present in numbers including juncos.
Good birding,
