Vermilion Flycatcher and White-winged Dove

Birders,

Lathe Chaflin and I, joined by Mark Hubinger, saw the Vermilion Flycatcher
at Big Bay yesterday, and saw the White Winged Dove(s?) at White Fish Point
both yesterday evening and this morning. I'm just hearing that the weather
is turning snowy for the weekend, but with that caveat the birds seemed
healthy and were actively feeding.

Regarding the location of the doves, we had assumed they would be coming
into the feeders at WFBO, but we never saw this. We flushed one dove very
late in the afternoon from a path through the alders behind the feeders,
one of us barely seeing the bird. This morning we found another, or the
same bird, on the short path known as "memory lane," which runs diagonally
from the NW corner of the parking lot toward the main sand path heading
toward the beach from the NE corner of the parking lot. That path, we
noted, had been spread over its entire length with birdseed, and would thus
be, it seems, the first place to look--not, as in our case, the last.

Good birding,

Macklin
