Hello,
This morning John Gilbert, Will Webber and I birded Point Mouillee State
Game Area. Here are some of the birds we found:
Tricolored Heron - We saw the bird from the middle causeway flying low over
the Long Pond Unit. It was being harassed by blackbirds. It dropped into the
Vermet Unit and out of sight - we couldn't relocate it.
Bufflehead - One female in the Vermet Unit
American Bittern - One in the Vermet Unit
Dunlin - Three in Cell 3
Sedge Wren - One in the Bloody Run Unit
Black Tern - 30-40 flying in the Vermet and Long Pond Unit.
Great Black-backed Gull - Cell 4
Some other interesting observations included American Wigeon, Redhead,
Canvasback, Ruddy Duck, Lesser Scaup, Black-crowned Night-herons and Least
Bittern.
Good birding,
Neil Gilbert
