When I came online to send this, I found that Brian Allen had already
reported it, but FYI anyway:
This morning Feller DeWitt, Dayle Vanderwier and I saw the male VARIED
THRUSH previously reported by Brian Allen at the same location in the
village of Arcadia in northwest Manistee County.
The bird foraged for berries in the flowering crab tree at 9:47, 10:04
and 10:24. Each time it stayed in the crab tree for less than a minute,
then flew back to one of the three nearby fir trees where it could not
be seen until its next trip to the crab tree.
We were there from 9:45 until 10:30 beside our parked car across the
street and slightly south of the Jass property. Twice the bird
"appeared" in the crab tree without our seeing its approach, so if you
go looking for it, be sure to stay attentive!

PS: On our way back to Muskegon we stopped at Orchard Beach State Park
and scoped the Big Lake for ducks. We saw several Common Goldeneyes and
a conservative 1,000+ Long-tailed Ducks far out on the Lake, most of
them southwest and west of the park.
