No more owl reports

Birders,

I just received a second-hand report that a photographer was seen cutting
branches off the roost tree where the Northern Saw-whet Owl has been since
early December (in order to obtain a better photo). I am a photographer
myself, and would never do something so selfish and lacking in concern tor
the welfare of the bird as this. If this person is on this list, I cannot
post here what I would have said to you in person if I had caught you.

Many, many people have enjoyed these birds responsibly over the past two
winters, and I thank you all for your good behavior. But, since my posting
their presence and locales has contributed to this unethical photographer
disturbing the birds, I will no longer post updates on these owls to the
internet.

With branches removed from this obviously great roost, I would not be
surprised if the bird moves to another less accessible locale, and this
roost might be ruined for this winter at least.

Every day, the hummingbird eats its own weight in food.
You may wonder how it weighs the food. It doesn't.
It just eats another hummingbird.
