Listers,
A long Christmas weekend allowed for squeezing some good birds in around the
family commitments. These are the highlights of rare & lingering birds:
Macomb Co
all three SCOTERS in the huge flock of waterfowl in close at MetroBeach
Metropark on Saturday the 23rd
3 female type BLACK SCOTERS
2 SURF SCOTERS - one adult male
one adult male WHITE-WINGED SCOTER
St Clair Co
Singles of LONG-EARED OWL & NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL on Saturday the 23rd in
the conifer grove at Palms Elementary School on Palms Road north of M-29 - this
is the Saw-whet from the Anchor Bay CBC
Wayne Co
Belle Isle 12-25
first winter ICELAND GULL at west end of island with large group of
Ring-bills and Herring Gulls
NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL in regular roost north of Nashua Creek
WHITE-WINGED SCOTER off the north side at the west end of the island
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker near the red bridge over Nashua Creek
5 Great Blue Herons & 2 Black-crowned Night Herons
one first winter White-crowned Sparrow at the Nature Center Feeders in the
House Sparrow horde
Oakland Co
Refound the Common Yellowthroat today at Robert H Long park which was
reported yesterday
Also today had both Song and Swamp Sparrows lingering along with a Great
Blue Heron at the American Center Marsh in Southfield
Not quite the western UP but some nice birds
