Birders, I don't often chase but since this is near our home, thought I'd check it out. Monday PM 18th we saw the RED-NECKED GREBE at the mentioned location. To be more specific, where we saw it was behind the 8600/8630 addresses on Anchor Bay Drive. Be it known, this road is a very difficult place to bird. The road is very narrow with almost no places to pull over. Local traffic is continuous along there and most of the local residents are annoyed by anyone stopping along or looking between the cottages, boathouses or homes which are very close together. Other birds seen in that general stretch of water were PIED-BILLED GREBES, N. PINTAILS, GREATER BLACK-BACKED GULLS, TUNDRA & MUTE SWANS, HERRING/RING-BILLED GULLS, MALLARDS, and of all things a SHARP-SHINNED HAWK was patrolling along the canals and between the boats! -- I think also BONAPARTES GULLS and possibly a few other species I couldn't get to define as traffic moved us along!
Today we also had WILD TURKEYS (17!) at our feeders besides the previously reported ones on the Anchor Bay CBC! It's incredible how this species has expanded in the St. Clair & Macomb county areas!

  MichListers,

I'm forwarding this for Martin Blagdurn.

Saturday Dec 16 on the Anchor Bay CBC a Red-necked Grebe was seen in Lake St, Clair from Anchor Bay Dr. halfway between M-29 and Deckers Landing. Also a 1st winter Lesser Black-backed Gull was seen in "downtown" New Baltimore and the same individual was seen at Brandenburg Park just south of New Baltimore. Other notable sightings from the count included White-winged Scoter, Bald Eagles, Wild Turkeys, Glaucous Gull, Saw-whet Owl, Northern Shrike, and Marsh Wren.
