Greetings,

Some good gulls were found while Bill Martinez, Chip Franke, Ann Luft, Sara Oliver and I covered the Port Sheldon waterfront during the Hudsonville CBC. A Lesser Black-backed (adult), Great Black-backed (adult) and Glaucous Gull (2nd winter) were all found sitting on the beach in a large gull flock just north of the breakwall at the mouth of the Pigeon River. After the flock flew he Lesser Black-backed was amoung gulls on the south breakwall where it was very cooperative for study purposes. However, the Great Black-backed and Glaucous were not refound. Thereafter, an adult Iceland Gull was located. It was with waterbirds around the "bubbler" of the Consumer's Energy warm underwater outflow off shore from Port Sheldon Township Park. It remained in this spot until we had to leave to continue the count. All of these birds were found between 1:45 and 3:15pm today. The beach is accessable by the public only from the Township Park and the break!
wall is a bit of a walk to the south.

Good birding,

Rick Brigham

Douglas
