Birders,

Today, my grandma, Rosemary Pavlik and I went to Muskegon County. We first
stopped at the South break wall where we found a Purple Sandpiper on the
beach just off from the rocks. The waves were crashing over the rocks which
pushed him to the beach. We also saw a Peregrine Falcon swoop by the break
wall. We scanned for ducks, with all the normal stuff including LT Ducks and
6 White-winged Scoters.

We then went to the Wastewater plant where we found mainly Northern
Shovelers with some Black Ducks, Gadwall and some Mallards. We had at least
5 Rough-legged Hawks with 1 being dark phase. 1 Northern Harrier was
cruising the center dike. There were Snow Buntings with 1 Lapland Longspur
mixed in. Could not find any "winter gulls".

At P.J. Hoffmaster State Park we saw a flock of 4 "small gull sp." and
another flock of 3 "small gull sp." just a tad too far out to ID for
certain, although probably just Bonaparte's Gulls.

Good Birding,
David Pavlik
