Birders,
Alex Dopp called at 12:15pm today to say that he and
Roger Wykes had relocated the Ross's Goose found
yesterday by Vince Ste-Marie at the Schneider Rd. pond
just north of Pleasant Lake Road, west of Ann Arbor in
Washtenaw County.
I-94 to M-52. South on M-52 to Pleasant Lake Rd.
East on Pleasant Lake Rd. to Schneider Rd. North on
Schneider Rd. Pull off the road and check the pond on
the west side of Schneider. Fairly heavy traffic on
this dirt road, so be careful.
A scope will probably be needed to see sufficient
detail to confirm the ID. Someone should try to get a
good picture to submit to the MBRC. If confirmed, I
believe this would only be the second MBRC endorsed
record for the county.

Subject: [birders] Ross's & Snow Geese, Schneider Pond
Date: Mon, 28 Mar 2005 20:22:34 -0500
Birders,
Two White morph SNOW GEESE and one ROSS'S GOOSE were
present this morning
(10:45 and again at 11:30) mixed with a group of
approximately 50 CANADA
GEESE at Schneider Road Pond. (NW corner of Schneider
Rd and Pleasant Lake
Rd, Freedom TWP, Washtenaw Co.). Great looks with all
3 Geese in the same
scope view provided excellent comparisons of bill
size, shape and
presence/lack of grin patchs on each. All three were
still present at
approx. 4:30 pm, but were not relocated at approx.
5:30.
First waterfowl of spring now present at Thorn Lake
which has just begun to
show some open water. Ringneck, C. Merg, Canvasback,
Canadas.....
