Birders,
This morning I made a brief trip to Oakwoods Metropark, Wayne Co., and
located the previously reported Dickcissels. I spent some time there
figuring out how many there were, and I concluded that there were at least 4
singing males that I saw, and two aggitated females seen well, for a total
of six. I believe the aggitation of the females was due to courtship and not
(yet) to nests nearby. As previously noted, these birds were in the vicinity
of a sign stating "Nature Center 1 mile".
Also, well before the railroad crossing, there was a single singing
Henslow's Sparrow (on the right side on the way in).
Near the parking area just past the railroad crossing, a male Orchard Oriole
was singing.
At Crosswinds Marsh, Wayne Co., the American White Pelican was still easily
seen near the Bald Eagle nest (one juvenile on branches above nest with two
adults present), from the Blue Gill Trail. It was sitting peacefully today,
preening, with no Mute Swans hassling it.
Thanks to those who found, and have continued to report these great county
birds!
