Folks,
Yesterday,6/16, Eric Huston and I drove out to Berrien
County and were rewarded with great looks at the
previously reported EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES (3 birds
in all) in Three Oaks. The birds were perched on the
wires in the small park on the northeast corner of Elm
St and US12.
We then drove along Kruger Rd and re-located the large
numbers of DICKCISSELS reported by Jon Wuepper
yesterday - in the field just to the east of Avery Rd
we could hear at least 15 birds, with, no doubt, more
birds present farther away from the road. Quite a
spectacle!
Finally, after a bit of a wait and some driving
around, we found the CHUCK-WILL'S-WIDOW around 11:00
p.m. along True Rd. From the Jones Rd intersection,
the bird was singing from the woods behind the first
field on the south side of the road.
All in all, a lovely evening in Berrien County!
Good birding,
Jacco G.
