This is the Michigan Statewide Bird Report for Thursday, July 21st 2005. It 
is sponsored by Wild Bird Store of Kalamazoo, located next to the Natural 
Health Center in the Westwood Plaza, 4618 West Main Street (M-43) in 
Kalamazoo.

In IONIA COUNTY on July 20th, a breeding-plumaged CURLEW SANDPIPER* was 
found at the Lakewood Wastwater Facility, near Lake Odessa. This facility is 
located just east of Lake Odessa near the intersection of Harwood Road & 
Tupper Lake Road. The bird was out in the discharge field south of the main 
office building with many other species of shorebirds. Please note that you 
MUST sign-in at the facility office. They are open from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. 
Monday thru Friday. Also present July 20th at Lakewood Wastewater, was a 
WILSON'S PHALAROPE.

In MONROE COUNTY, the previously reported CURLEW SANDPIPER* (initially 
discovered by Cathy Carrol & Matt Hysell) was not reported this week, but 
STILT SANDPIPERS, WILLET and WILSON’S PHALAROPE were present in Cell #2 of 
Point Mouilee State Game Area. One of the previously reported KING RAILS* 
was seen on July 17th at PMSGA.

In BERRIEN COUNTY, July 15th, 1 MARBLED GODWIT was seen at New Buffalo, as 
were 5 WILLETS. On July 16th, 4 WILLETS were seen at Warren Dunes State 
Park.

In ANTRIM COUNTY, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen on July 18th, atop a 
utility pole south of the Elk Rapids High School.

**CALL FOR PHOTOGRAPHS**--Michigan Birds and Natural History (MBNH) is 
seeking bird photographs for publication in the Michigan Bird Survey 
seasonal reports. Digital photos (jpeg format), photographs or 
transparencies can be submitted to the MBNH editor Jim Granlund at 
granlund at chartermi.net  or 6253 N. Westnedge, Kalamazoo MI, 49009 or to the 
seasonal survey compiler for the appropriate season. Photos of common birds 
as well as rarities are encouraged. Please include the name of photographer, 
species depicted in the image, date location and a brief statement giving 
MBNH permission to reproduce the image. All photographs used will have 
appropriate acknowledgement. Birds photographed within Michigan only, 
please.
