This is the Michigan Statewide Bird Report for Thursday, July 7th 2005. It
is sponsored by Wild Bird Outfitters of Kalamazoo.

In JACKSON COUNTY, Adam Bynre visited the residence of Chuck and Sue
Bradford of Parma and located 2 YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS* on their
property, as of July 1st. The Bradfords are open to having birders come and
view the herons, but would like people to call ahead to make sure they will
be home and to let them know when to expect people in their driveway. The
Bradford's will be able to direct birders to the area where the birds are
best viewed. They can be reached at (517) 531-5064, but please call between
7:00 am - 9:00 pm. From I-94, exit at Deering Road (I believe it is the
third exit west of Jackson) and go south several miles to McCain Road and go
west. Their address is 7850 McCain, it will be on the north side of the
road. (Information provided courtesy of Adam Byrne).

In MONROE COUNTY, at Point Mouilee State Game Area, 2 GLOSSY IBISES* were
located on June 30th. On July 1st, Adam Byrne, Tex Wells and other relocated
both IBIS in open water of cell 2. While viewing the GLOSSY IBIES, Brad
Murphy found a KING RAIL*, in the open area. Both GLOSSY IBIS* were seen
through July 2nd. On July 4th, Allen Chartier found 1 AMERICAN AVOCET in
Cell 2 and PROTHONOTARY WARBLER in northeast corner of Cell 1 (no GLOSSY
IBIS). On July 5th, Kevin Thomas found 1 juv. KING RAIL* (making a total of
2 of the species seen: 1 adult, 1 juv.), and SNOWY EGRET latter in Cell 2),
but no AMERICAN AVOCET.

In BERRIEN COUNTY, the CHUCK-WILL'S-WIDOW* continues to be heard along True
Road (as of July 3th), just west of M-140, and along Jones Road, near its
intersection with Long Lake Road. At least 1 "pure" EURASAIN COLLARED DOVE*
remained as of July 6th at the village park in Three Oaks (US-12 and Elm
Street). On July 1st, Rex Hubbard found an AMERICAN AVOCET on the beach at
Warren Dunes State Park.

DICKCISSELS have been reported this week in the Northern Lower Peninsula:
KALKASKA and MISSAUKEE COUNTIES (email for directions).

In ANTRIM COUNTY, a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was reported near Elk Rapids this
week.

The next scheduled update of this report will be on Thursday, July 14th,
2005. To report your sightings, please leave a message at the sound of the
tone or call Jon Wuepper at 269-556-9510. Thanks for calling and good
birding.
