In WAYNE COUNTY, December 8th an injured NORTHERN GANNET* was rescued
December 8th from the ice of Lake Saint Clair. NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL(S)
continue to been seen on Belle Isle, as of December 10th. A NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD was seen December 10th, by the old steel plant on East Jefferson
Street, south of Sibley Road.
In ALGER COUNTY, a WESTERN GREBE* was located on December 8th & 9th. When
last reported, it was seen on Munising Bays east side, behind the Sunset
Motel. Also reported from Munising Bay on December 9th were 2, 1st-winter
THAYERS GULLS, 2 GLAUCOUS GULLS and 1, 1st-winter GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL.
A NORTHERN HAWK OWL was seen at Shelter Bay, through Sunday, December 11th.
In MARQUETTE COUNTY, a VARIED THRUSH was reported on Presque Isle Point on
December 10th. 2 SNOWY OWLS were seen this week, in that same vicinity.
In BAY COUNTY, December 11th, a THAYERS/ICELAND GULL was found at
Middlegrounds.
In MECOSTA COUNTY, December 12th, a SNOWY OWL was reported Big Rapids.
In MUSKEGON COUNTY, December 9th, 1 PURPLE SANDPIPER was reported at Pere
Marquette State Park. On December 10th, the south jetty at Muskegon provided
an adult LITTLE GULL. Also on December 10th, 2 GOLDEN EAGLES were spotted at
the intersection of Lake Road & Swanson Road.
In ALLEGAN COUNTY, 5 RED-THROATED LOONS were present offshore of Oval Beach
in Saugatuck, December 14th.
In MONROE COUNTY on December 10th, a WILLET was found at the outflow of the
Erie Power Plant. This represents the first winter seasonal record of the
species in Michigan.
In BERRIEN COUNTY, December 11th, 2 AMERICAN PIPITS and a WILSONS SNIPE
were present at the sewage ponds, located on the Andrews University campus.
