This morning, September 1st, before work I checked the sod farm in SE Washtenaw County at Willow and Gooding Road and found a Buff-breasted Sandpiper where it has been present for almost a week. I also saw three Baird's Sandpipers (not with the Buff-breasted) and hoards of Killdeer. The key shorebirds were not easy to see even though quite close to Gooding Road on the east side of the road as they were in roughly plowed ground.

I also checked the Waltz sod farm, about 13 miles to the east in nearby southern Wayne County, and found nothing of note except two distant peeps, at least one of which was a Baird's. This was on the north side of Ash Road east of Waltz Road. I also checked further east over the railroad tracks and found nothing of note.
