Thanks to Adam for getting the Cave Swallow posted. The Swallow was not seen after the original sighting, but we will get the word out as soon as possible if it is seen again. The Western Kingbird was seen off and on for several hours, but not seen the last few hours of the count.
We are seeing flocks of up to 50 White-winged Crossbills daily, all fly overs. We have had flocks up to 100 Evening Grosbeaks, 14 Pine Grosbeaks and 20 Bohemian Waxwing. Redpoll have begun showing up and Pine Siskin numbers seem to be on the rise. The Siskins are the only winter finches coming in to the feeders. Black-backed Woodpecker has been seen several times this past week, and there was one Boreal Chickadee sighting this week.
A young Parastitic Jaeger has been being seen daily from the tip for the last 8 days. It has come right over the tip several times, affording us great looks. The waterbird count is also seeing Goshawks most days, along with Rough-legged hawks and Bald Eagles. Long-tailed Ducks and Red-breasted Mergansers are moving in big numbers and Scoters are moving in good numbers. There was a Sabine's Gull and a Black-legged Kittiwake at the count this week.
Boreal Owl has been found roosting twice this week along with one Saw-whet and one Short-eared Owl.
