Birders,
Yesterday, October 20, I birded for a couple hours in the morning at Tawas
Point State Park, and found a couple of flocks of shorebirds containing the
following:
American Golden-Plover - 1
Black-bellied Plover - 25
Sanderling - 40
Dunlin - 220
White-rumped Sandpiper - 18
The latter was a surprising number for this date. Also, a Merlin and
Peregrine both flew by, and there were good numbers of American Tree
Sparrows and Golden-crowned Kinglets from the lighthouse to the point. Very
few warblers, with only 2 Yellow-rumped seen. Offshore, 4 White-winged
Scoters and 1 Common Loon were the only interesting waterbirds.
