On Tuesday about 1:00 p.m., a birding group from Ottawa County Parks viewed
a juvenile-plumaged Sabine's gull and a first winter great black-backed gull
at Pere Marquette Park in Muskegon County. The Sabine's flew by the group
at close range as we were walking to the end of the pier and headed south
along the shoreline. The great black-backed was also viewed at close range
on the beach. No purple sandpipers. Pere Marquette Park is on Lake
Michigan on the south side of the channel to Muskegon Lake.
