Skye Haas and I birded Sugar Isl., Neebish Isl, and a bit of the Sault Ste Marie area today. We had 3 Great Grays, 1 Snowy and 1 Barred Owl. We also had 3 Northern Shrikes.
The Snowy was in the Soo at the intersection of M-129 and 5 Mile Rd. It was sitting on the gate on the opposite side of M-129 from were 5 Mile dead ends. One Great gray was on Sugar Isl. and 2 were on Neebish Isl. The Sugar Isl bird was on East Shore Dr. Coming from the south it was a little past the address 1175. It was in a small opening near a small abandoned building on the right side of the road. Both of the Neebish Isl. birds were seen on Brander Rd. One right at the intersection with 15 Mile Rd. The other was next to a driveway on the right hand side, as you drive south, of Brander Rd. The Barred was seen at night on Scenic Dr. in the Dunbar Forest.
Tomorrow I will attempt to relocate the Hawk Owl that was reported near the river mouth today. We unfortunately passed this location today before sunrise and after sunset.
     Chris
